Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly do you do?

I offer embodied energy healing that blends somatic awareness, Reiki, nervous system–based work, and ceremonial practices. Sessions are gentle, grounded, and client-led. The intention is not to fix you, but to support your body in remembering safety, regulation, and clarity.

Is this therapy?

No. This work is complementary to therapy and medical care. It can support emotional and nervous system regulation, but it is not a replacement for psychological or medical treatment.

Many clients choose to work alongside a therapist or healthcare provider.

Do I need to believe in energy healing for it to work?

No belief is required. You don’t need to be spiritual, experienced, or “good at meditation.”

You only need willingness to slow down and listen to your body.

Most of the work happens through the nervous system and somatic awareness — things every human body already understands.

What happens in a session?

Sessions are quiet, spacious, and collaborative.

You remain clothed and lie or sit comfortably while I guide gentle energetic and somatic work. Some sessions include touch (with consent), others are distance-based.

People often experience warmth, emotion, memories, relaxation, or subtle shifts in awareness. Every session is different.

There is no performance required.

Will I have an emotional release?

Maybe — but nothing is forced.

This work honours your nervous system’s pace. Some sessions feel calm and subtle. Others may bring emotion forward. Both are valid.

You are always in choice. You can pause, speak, or redirect at any time.

Safety & readiness…

Are there any contraindications or times this work may not be appropriate?

This work is generally gentle and adaptable.
However, there are times when additional or alternative support is more appropriate.

If you are currently in acute mental health crisis, experiencing unmanaged psychosis or mania, or seeking this work as a replacement for medical or psychological care, I recommend prioritising clinical support first.

Somatic and energetic work can be emotionally activating. If you have complex trauma, neurological conditions, or significant medical concerns, readiness and pacing matter.

For this reason, all clients complete a detailed intake form before sessions.
If you’re unsure whether this work is appropriate for you right now, you’re welcome to reach out before booking.

Is this safe if I have trauma?

This work is trauma-aware and paced slowly. That said, somatic and energetic work can activate emotion.

If you are in acute mental health crisis or feeling unstable, therapy or medical support is recommended first. This work can complement — not replace — clinical care.

What if I don’t want to be touched?

That’s completely respected.

Sessions can be done hands-off or at a distance. Consent is ongoing and adjustable at any time.

Do I need to talk about my past?

No. Talking is optional.

Some clients share a lot. Others stay quiet and work through sensation. Both approaches are welcome.

This is not talk therapy.

Practical questions…

How should I prepare for a session?

Arrive hydrated, wearing comfortable clothing (no jeans), and unrushed if possible.

Avoid alcohol or recreational drugs beforehand.

That’s it — no special rituals required.

What should I expect after a session?

People often feel calm, tired, emotional, spacious, or clearer.

Integration continues after the session. Rest, water, gentle movement, and quiet time help.

There is no “right” reaction.

How many sessions do I need?

There’s no fixed number.

Some people come once for a reset. Others work in cycles or seasonally. Some return monthly. This is not a dependency model.

The work is about building your own capacity, not creating reliance.

Do you offer distance sessions?

Yes.

Distance sessions are held in the same container and are often experienced as equally effective. You’ll lie down at home while I hold the session remotely.

Is Reiki religious?

No.

Reiki comes from Japanese healing traditions but is not a religion. It does not require belief in any doctrine. It is a system of energetic and somatic care.

Courses & learning…

Can anyone learn Reiki?

Yes.

You don’t need prior experience. Reiki training is open to people drawn to healing, embodiment, and self-awareness.

Many students learn Reiki for personal practice, not professional work.

Will I obtain a certificate after training?

Yes. Reiki trainings include certificates and a comprehensive manual.

Do I need to become a healer to take the course?

No.

Many students take Reiki Level One purely for self-healing.

Professional practice is optional.

Circles & ceremonies…

I’ve never been to a circle before — is that okay?

Yes.

You don’t need experience, vocabulary, or spiritual knowledge.

You only need to show up as you are.

Circles are guided spaces — you are never expected to perform or share if you don’t want to.

What happens in a circle?

Circles vary, but they usually include:

  • grounding meditation

  • symbolic ritual

  • quiet reflection

  • optional sharing

  • closing integration

They are held gently, without pressure.

Will I be asked to share personal things?

Sharing is always optional.

Witnessing without speaking is valid participation.

Philosophy of the work…

Is this about fixing me?

No.

This work is about relationship — learning to stay with yourself, your body, and your experience without force.

Healing is not a performance or a destination.

It’s a conversation with your nervous system.

What if nothing happens?

Something is always happening, even when it feels quiet.

Subtle shifts are often more sustainable than dramatic ones. This work respects slow intelligence.

Accessibility…

What if I’m anxious or unsure?

That’s welcome.

Many people arrive unsure. The space is paced slowly and without expectation. You can ask questions at any time.

There is no right way to participate. …
